Can a beginner take HPA's permanent makeup school?

Yes, of course. HPA's Permanent Makeup Course is a basic course that can be learned from the very beginning, even by those with no prior experience. If you have any questions, you can ask our instructors directly during the course, so please don't worry.

Do I need to be certified to perform permanent makeup?
A
The licensure for permanent makeup procedures varies depending on the country where the procedure is being performed. Many states in the United States require a tattoo or cosmetologist license. Please contact your state government for more information as it varies from state to state. In Japan, permanent make-up is a medical procedure. A license from a doctor or nurse is required. It is prohibited by law to perform the procedure in beauty salons and other facilities.

Is it possible to take a course from any country?

Yes, you can take the course from anywhere in the world. If you are in Japan, we will ask to see if you have a medical or nursing license before you register for the course.

Can I buy permanent makeup products after I complete the course?
A
Of course! You can purchase HPA's original permanent makeup products directly from our online shop. Orders from Japan will be imported by individuals. HPA will help you with the import procedures. In addition, we can also import other permanent makeup products other than HPA products as well, so please contact us by email for more information.

Are there any other costs besides the course fee?

The course fee includes all necessary permanent makeup kits. There is a separate fee for those applying from outside the United States.

After completing the online course, will I be able to do a monitored practicum outside of Hawaii?
A
Yes, it is possible. Other than the main school in Hawaii, we have partner clinics in Tokyo, Japan and partner salons in California that offer hands-on training under the guidance of HPA instructors. There is an additional fee for this service, so please contact us for more information.

I live in a rural area of Japan. What happens to my monitoring practice if I can't get to the partner clinic?
A
Although the duration of the program is limited, instructor Hideko will visit Japan 3 or 4 times a year, so you can have an on-site training session if you wish. Also, it is possible for HPA Japan instructors to visit your home for training. Please contact us for details.

Will I receive a certificate of completion when I complete the course?
A
Yes, you will receive a certificate of completion from Hawaii after you complete the course, and you will receive a certificate of completion by mail from Hawaii.
